Adapt
For Impact
Bringing Queensland not-for-profits closer to the social enterprise model
Adapt for Impact is a first-of-its-kind initiative helping Queensland charities future-proof their business models and grow their impact for good.
Nine Queensland not-for-profit organisations are working on real-time strategies to shift from grant reliance to revenue generation, so they can scale their work and deepen their contribution to local communities.
Who’s involved
Collaborators: White Box, Social Traders and QUT
Funder: Minderoo Foundation
Participating NFPs: Australian Anti Ice Campaign, Braille House, Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses, Fierce Females, LIVIN, Make Ways Foundation, St David’s Neighbourhood Centre, Toowoomba International Multicultural Society (TIMS), and Women’s Mentoring Foundation.
What the program delivers
Adapt for Impact provides tailored support across three key streams:
- 2x two-day workshops to sharpen NFP enterprise thinking
- Monthly 1:1 mentoring for NFP leaders
- Community of Practice, including peer learning through the Business for Good Network
Why It Matters
More charities are facing rising demand and tighter funding. Adapt for Impact supports NFPs who are ready to shift gears – growing their trading income, testing new ideas, or exploring mergers to boost efficiency and scale. This is about long-term impact, not quick fixes.
Building the foundations for growth at LIVIN
As LIVIN continues to expand its impact in youth mental health, White Box has been working alongside the team to strengthen the foundations needed for sustainable growth.
Over the past quarter, support has focused on helping the organisation move from day-to-day operational pressures toward a more strategic way of working. This included reviewing LIVIN’s Theory of Change and introducing an impact measurement framework to better capture and communicate outcomes, strengthening future funding and partnership opportunities.
White Box also supported the identification of key capability gaps, leading to the recruitment of a Growth Marketing Manager and work to improve inventory management processes and profitability across retail partnerships.
At the same time, LIVIN’s schools program has been supported to develop a phased growth plan, with new partnership opportunities emerging in Victoria that could support future expansion.
With clearer priorities, stronger systems and a focus on sustainable growth, LIVIN is now better positioned to increase both its impact and long-term financial resilience.
